Guided visits to discover the travel: winter 2015 in Valdegovía- Álava

The tourist and leisure services company, NOSCO, once again brings you closer to the world of mycology in general and in particular to that of the Truffle.

NOSCO, together with restaurants in Valdegovía´s valley (Álava), is organising day trips where you can discover all the secrets of winter truffles.

Valdegovía´s Valley is home to an enormous natural and historical/architectural richness , which goes hand in hand with the peacefullness of its towns.

We offer you a visit to a tartufaia  ( a cultivated farm with mycorrhizal trees which grow  the fungus of the black winter truffle(Tuber melanosporum)  in the town of Alavés de Basabe.

Aided by our truffle hunting dog we will enjoy the search following the dog as it smells the ground to check if there really are truffles- you will never forget the very strong smell of the forest, the unearthing of the truffle, rewarding the dog for its good work and filling up the hole created. After thoroughly washing them the only thing left to do is to sit down at the table and try them.

ITINERARY

10:00- Meeting point Valdegovía´s Tourist Office, in Villanueva de Valdegovía.

10:15- Talk: The Truffle, its ecological characteristics and its cultivation

11:00 to 12:00-a guided tour of the truffle plantation and a demonstration of truffle harvesting by truffle hunting dogs

12:30- Lunch in the  ´Los Canónigos´ restaurant in Valpuesta

Total length of the visit+ lunch: from 10:00 to 13:30 approximately.



You will have the opportunity to buy a fresh truffle.

PRICE PER PERSON:

• 15 euros (without lunch)

 For children under 2 it is free , from 3 up to 8 years old it costs 5 €

• 25 euros ( selection of pintxos (basque tapas) made with fresh truffle and Rioja Alavesa wine)

If they have lunch, children under 8 pay 15 € (5 for the visit  and 10 for the lunch with water or a soft drink).

Planned dates for the 2014-2015 season:

• Saturday 7th February and Saturday 7th March 2015

For big groups (Bus tours or similar groups):up to 10 adults

Adults 13 € (Visit includes a pintxo((basque tapas) made with truffles and a drink)

For children from 3 to 12 years old  it costs 5 € (without a pincho).
