2011-2012 Schools Campaign in Valdegovia

Our educational programme is being offered once again for the 2011-2012 academic year, in the Valdegovia Valley and the surrounding area. The programme is directed at all academic levels: primary, secondary and higher education.

AIMS OF THE PROGRAMME

The programme´s objectives are:
1. To immerse the participant in rural life.
2. To introduce the participant to the countryside of the Valdegovia Valley, its different ecosystems, its peculiarities etc, and thus bring the participant close to the natural world in general and the problems that it faces.
3. To build a relationship with the rural environment of the area.
Methodology
The programme is tailored to each group, to the time available and to the their interests and objectives.
For this reason, the available resources and activities are combined to create the best possible itinerary for each group.
These itineraries consist of themed workshops, in which different aspects of the project will be explored.
Below is detailed the duration and price of every activity, taking into account that there is no fee for supervision and education.

RESOURCES AND ACTIVITIES:TORRE VARONA – Guided tour of this medieval tower and palace, furnished in period style, to discover how the nobles of the past lived.
Duration: 1 hour – Price: 1.50€
TUESTA – Visita guiada a la Iglesia de la Asunción( la catedral de Valdegovía) para entender la transición del estilo románico al gótico mediante un juego de pistas.
Duración: 30 minutos – Precio: 2 €
TUESTA – Guided tour of the Church of the Ascension (Valdegovia Cathedral), and treasure hunt to understand the transition from the Romantic to the Gothic style.
Duration: 30 minutes – Price: 2€

EXCURSION from the Quercus Ilex in Villanañe (officially recognised natural heritage) to the Torre Varona to identify different forests (pine and holm-oak) and ecosystems.
Duration: 1 hour – Price: 2€

EXCURSION to Saint Martin of Valparaíso (the necropolis) with an explanation of the countryside and of the tombs.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes – Price 2€

CORRO CAVES. Visit to the 6th and 7th century hermit caves, carved into the rock.
Duration: 40 minutes – Price: 2€

EXCURSION TO THE CAICEDO LAKE. Guided excursion from Salinas de Añana to the Caicedo Lake.
Duration: 2 hours – Price: 2€

GAUBEA EQUESTRIAN CENTRE. “A day in the life of a horse”. The student gets to know and participates in the day-to-day work of an equestrian centre, they have their first casual contact with the horses and afterwards may ride on the horses and ponies on the horse track.
Duration: 2 hours – Price: 15€/person – Max. 30 people

TUESTA ZOOLOGICAL CENTER: wild sows, Vietnamese pigs, birds (emus, swans, peacocks, chickens…)
Duration: 30 minutes – Price: 1€/child
Furthermore, it is possible to visit other sights in the surrounding area, like MOUNT SANTIAGO, THE SALADO VALLEY,

VALDEREJO, SAN ZADORNIL, SOBRON AVENTURA. These may be combined with our offer, and reservations are easier when made with one of our activities.

All of these trips may vary according to the interests of each group, meaning that itineraries can be tailor-made. For instance, an itinerary may focus entirely on art or ethnography, depending on the age of the group.
