The Salado Valley chosen as the third best corner of Spain according to the Repsol Guide.

The Salado Valley of Añana (Álava) has finished in third position  in its participation in the competition to be elected the Best  Retreat 2014 by The Repsol Guide,  after being beaten in the semifinals by the Alcántara bridge  ( Extremadura. The Salado Valley in Añana (Álava).

 

It is an undeniable success since in this edition of the Best Retreat more than 1.000 candidates turned up, 76 of them from the Basque Country. The Salado Valley passed the first phase, in which representatives of each of the Autonomous Communities were competing,  in second place , and in the quarter finals it beat the Natural Park of Calblanque (Murcia).

The influx of visitors is continuing since in the first eight months of the year 51.250 people have visited it, beating the annual record for visits established in 2013 with 51.145 visitors.   At the same time as the competition, the Añana Sacred Valley Foundation  set in motion a caring initiative which consisted in donating 10 grams of salt to the Food Bank for each vote the salt mines received.
